I want to start this review by saying that the people at The Speaker Exchange are very pleasant and accommodating. I spoke to Caryn on the phone about retuning this product and she was absolutely delightful to deal with. I highly recommend doing business with The Speaker Exchange!
While I do appreciate the fact that The Speaker Exchange makes this low priced alternative available, I want anyone looking to purchase this diaphragm to be informed. I recently purchased this product to repair a blown HF driver in one of my JBL MPro 415 speakers. While they do install fairly easily, some differences should be noted.
First off, these don’t sound the same… at all. They do not put out the high-end volume and clarity or frequency response of the originals, so the repaired speaker sounds different.
You get what you pay for – right?
Secondly, the male terminal blades where the speaker wires attach are larger than the originals (my MPros were purchased in 2001 and say they were made in the USA) so plan on modifying the connectors to fit.
For the record, we had these MPro 415speakers on poles right next to brand new QSC K12.2s and the JBL MPros hands down sound better for overall volume and clarity. For that reason, I am purchasing the OEM diaphragms from The Speaker Exchange because these JBL MPro 415 speakers are worth spending the extra money.
