The NAMM January 2011 in Orange County CA brought out all the usual musicians, characters, sounds and fun. I’m sharing just a few of those sights (sorry no sounds) from our visit there. There were a lot of old industry friends and quite a lot of new product which will be revealed soon. The Who’s Who are: David Vincent from Morbid Angel, Bill Gillespie from Dean Guitars, long time pal Elliott Rubinson, CEO of Armadillo Enterprises and Bass Player for Leslie West, David Bryce from Wave Audio, Steve Hendee from Yorkville, John Sanchez from Celestion, Robert Caputo and Roger Fortier from Adam Audio, Iracord Rubnitz- sound engineer and Godzilla aficionado and of course, Cathy & Glenn Satin from The Speaker Exchange. Check out that voice coil Glenn is looking at.
Cathy grew up in NY, moved to Florida in 1975 and graduated from the University of South Florida, with a degree in broadcasting. She and her husband Glenn started The Speaker Exchange in 1977. (Glenn later moved into Audio/Video sales and installations). In 1979, Cathy went to California for JBL speaker repair training and later received advanced training from Frank Spain, the then head of the Electro-Voice service department. She has continued to advance her audio education through many CES, NAMM, and CEDIA trade show classes.
